About Bishleshan

A research and consulting organisation built on a single operating premise: that better data, honestly analysed, produces better decisions.

Bishleshan works with governments, development institutions, and the private sector, providing original research, structured intelligence, and advisory services on some of the most consequential questions in policy and markets.

The name derives from the Nepali for analysis. It was chosen because it describes exactly what we do, and nothing more.

We are not a think tank with a policy agenda. We are not a consulting firm that sells implementation. We are an analytical organisation. Our output is intelligence: precise, evidence-based, and produced without prior conclusion.

Governing Principles

Three principles that govern every engagement

Independence

Our findings are not subject to client review before publication. Funders do not approve conclusions. No engagement at Bishleshan has ever produced a finding written to satisfy a commissioner's preference. This is written into every contract we sign.

Original data

We do not recycle secondary sources and call it research. Every substantive Bishleshan product draws on data we have collected or verified ourselves. Where we rely on third-party data, we assess its quality explicitly and state its limitations.

Calibrated precision

We do not offer more certainty than the evidence warrants. Probability-weighted forecasts. Explicitly conditional scenarios. Confidence intervals where they matter. Honest uncertainty over false confidence.

Working with Bishleshan

We accept a limited number of new client engagements each quarter.

We work best with clients who have a specific, substantive question they need answered; who require findings that are accurate rather than comfortable; and for whom the quality and defensibility of the analysis matters as much as its conclusions.
